Questions Jesus Asked - Written: 4/7/2005

Jesus asked some very difficult questions to His disciples, the crowds and the Pharisees. I think that the questions Jesus asked are more telling than many of the statements that He made. Jesus knew how to use a question to unearth the heart of the matter. Jesus' questions reveal the focus of His ministry. They illustrate the struggle that many people had to accept this Messiah who broke all the rules. Jesus did not fit the people's preconceived ideas of what a Messiah or king sould be.

When you stare into the depths of Jesus' questions, how do you deal with the questions that rocked the world?

.)Why are you fearful, O ye of little faith?

.)Why think ye evil in your hearts?

.)Why do you transgress the commandment of God with your tradition?

.)Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

.)Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

.)Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me.

.)Who do you say that I am?

.)Why do you betray me with a kiss?

.)Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?

.)Why are you angry with me for healing the whole man on the Sabbath?

.)Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say.

.)Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me?

.)Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?

.)Why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?

.)And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”–which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
