Ron Luce of Teen Mania spoke at Creation East last week. He talked about the difference between club Christians and devoted Christian soldiers in God's revolutionary movement. Ron brought a strong challenge to the Church to enlist in God's army. Ron said, "There is a lot of people that have prayed a little prayer for salvation but have not ever enlisted in God's army."
According to Teen Mania, it is estimated that only 4% of the millennial generation will likely be Bible believing Christians if the current trends hold up. This means that the Church has a lot of work to do. The country club mentality prevalent in many churches is not going to cut it if revival is going to take place.
Here's just some things to ponder on the differences between being a club Christian and a revolutionary fighter. People join clubs because they share some kind of interest. It is a loose organization. Club Christians join a group and can leave at any time. Soldiers enlist for a cause and sign away their rights. Club Christians take their cues from the culture around them. Soldiers follow the orders from their commanding officers and always keep their eyes on the front lines. Club Christians do what they want to do. Soldiers follow a code and sign up for a lifestyle centered around a mission. Club Christians attend church. Soldiers are part of the Church seeking to establish God's kingdom on earth. Club Christians are self centered. Soldiers are purpose driven.
Club Christians make excuses for not doing the right thing. Soldiers seek out better ways to do the right thing. Club Christians are consumers. Soldiers are consumed by God and His glory. Club Christians are what the world has come to hate. Soldiers are what the worlds needs. Soldiers are what will change the world.
Are you a club Christian or a soldier in God's army? The choice is up to you.
