Knowing How to Say Goodbye - Written: 8/27/2005

Yesterday, I sat down with a Jeff McBee, a co-worker and beloved Christian brother, to discuss the Word over lunch. Jeff mentioned how Paul ended his leaders with incredible enthusiasm and encouragement to the reader. Jeff read 2 Corinthians 13:11-14. In the King James Version, this passage says, "Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace and the God of love and peace shall be with you. Greet one another with an holy kiss. All the saints salute you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen."

After reading these verses, Jeff said, "That's good stuff. We don't even think like that any more." Sadly, Jeff's right. Every word in those verses has significance. Paul wrote with purpose, and He wrote to inspire. His words reflect the awareness of a kingdom beyond what we see, and truth that transcends man's wisdom.
