Ambassador - Written: 9/24/2005

Imagine meeting a man dressed in a nice suit on an airplane. You begin a casual conversation and discover that he is a foreign ambassador. Curious about his position, you ask questions trying to understand what his life is like. Although polite and friendly, you can tell that the man is confident and shrewd. He has a brilliant grasp of international politics, customs and diplomacy.

At times, the man has to know how to throw a good party and develop coalitions. Other times he must take a firm stand and crusade for the policies of his country. Sometimes he builds treaties with a warm smile. On occasions he keeps enemies at bay with a stern glance.

Ever aware of how people perceive him, the man must never forget who he is and who he represents. One off the cuff remark could jeopardize his position and bring shame to his country. This would sound like a high pressure job. In some ways, it is. But the man doesn't seemed to be weighed down by it.

The principles and guiding philosophies of his homeland have become such a part of him that they are simply second nature. He doesn't have to think what The King would do in his position. He knows. This has come from years of serving The King and working in close proximity to Him. He has taken on the mind of His people and sovereign authority. He's not a robot or a clone. He's just conformed to something wiser, deeper and better than himself.

The man in this story is an ambassador of the Kingdom of God. He serves Jesus Christ, the KING OF KINGS. And if you are a Christian, you are called to be THAT man or woman. Let the following Scripture soak into your heart:

2 Corinthians 5:20-22(NIV)

We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
