I have been thinking about the phrase, "Blood and Fire" a lot lately. It is the theme of the Salvation Army. It is on the cover of one of my prized possessions, my Salvation Army song book. I use this all the time during worship service to help me focus on who God is. Anyway, the Salvation Army's symbol involves the words "Blood and Fire." The blood is the blood of Christ and the fire is the fire of the Holy Spirit.
These are the two key critical elements to living life as Jesus calls us to live. We must be cleansed and redeemed by the blood of Christ, and we must be set ablaze with the fire of the Holy Spirit. People always love to come watch a good fire.
Oh Father, help me to cherish the blood of Jesus. May I do nothing to despise it. May I live for Your glory and Your Kingdom. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. May I receive Your spiritual gifts and walk as a new man in Jesus. I long to be a spiritual man walking in spiritual understanding not as a carnal man who denies the deeper mysteries with intellectual mind games. I know that You have called me to be reasoned and ready to give an account for the hope that I have. May I be mentally sharp as well as spiritually led. Make me into what You have always wanted me to be. Thank You for calling me to be a son of God. Amen!
