When we cannot see our way, let us trust and still obey. He who bids us forward go, cannot fail the way to show.
Though the sea be deep and wide, though a passage seems denied, fearless let us still proceed, since the Lord vouchsafes to lead.
Though it be the gloom of night, though we see no ray of light, since the Lord is there, 'tis not meet that we should fear.
Night with him is never night, where he is, there all is light, when he calls us, why delay? They are happy who obey.
Be it ours, then, while we're here, him to follow without fear, where he calls us, there to go, what he bids us, that to do. - Thomas Kelly, The Song Book of the Salvation Army
I read this poem the other day during my worship time. It really ministered to me because sometimes we just don't sense God moving in a particular season of our life. Yet He is there. Sometimes it can seem light we are surrounded by darkness, but God's light shines everywhere.
God is faithful to show us the way to go. We need not fear because God is our light and our guide. When it seems like God is out of sight, He is really just hidden from view in our spiritual blindside. We are called out of darkness into God's marvelous light. I will trust in light of His revelation and the power of His might. God is ever faithful for the fight.
