Last night, I went with some friends and youth from church to a concert featuring Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman and Louie Giglio. At the concert, Louie came out and spoke about the glory of God as showcased by the splendor of the night's sky. He showed some incredible images of stars, planets and other astronomical marvels. Each one showcased the creativity, power and vastness of God's creation. God is just too big to even comprehend. And the thing that is hardest to understand is that He cares deeply about a little speck of dust like us. God even offers us privileged positions in His family and kingdom. Those who have accepted the saving work of Jesus are given the right to be called the sons of God. And more than that, Paul wrote in Galatians, "since you are a son, God has made you also an heir."
This gives a new perspective to those who look up at the night sky. We can say, "Look what my daddy did." One day, the sons of God will share the universe as our inheritance from The Father.
Psalm 19:1-3 (NIV)
1 The heavens declare the glory of God
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech
night after night they display knowledge.
3 There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.
