Call of the Wild - Written: 4/1/2006

We all have a bit of a wild side. Jack London, the famous novelist, knew this all too well. He wrote about men finding their identity out in the wild. He also had some pretty curious sayings about life.

While watching a TV special on the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, the following Jack London quote appeared on the screen, "The proper function of man is to live, not to exist."

I searched on the Net and found a few others that I like too. Here are some good words to ponder from Jack London.

"There is an ecstasy that marks the summit of life, and beyond which life cannot rise. And such is the paradox of living, this ecstasy comes when one is most alive, and it comes as a complete forgetfulness that one is alive." - Jack London

"You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club." - Jack London
