Last Friday I discussed with my father the current health insurance situation at our family business. He said to me, "You know what these knew health saving accounts and medical plans look like? They are basically a modernized version of what we had before HMOs took over the insurance business. These new systems are focused on cutting costs and reducing friviolous claims. The burden is shifting back to the customer now."
My dad is absolutely right. I am not going to take a side either way on what type of health insurance is best. I simply thought it was interesting that we have come full circle. Things tend to run in cycles. And that is exactly what is happening in the health care field. The next 15 years are going to be real interesting as America adjusts to the emerging economy.
