Living in Faith - Written: 7/18/2006

The other day I was having lunch with some Christian co-workers and a visiting missionary from Israel named Ron. While talking about various God topics, one of the guys asked the missionary what he would say to someone struggling with cancer about healing.

Ron responded by saying that he would not try to push any particular theological viewpoint. He would simply turn the person to Christ and ask them what they believe about God and His will for them. Ron said that he would encourage them to live at their level of faith and revelation instead of trying to peddle any particular view of healing.

Ron was not saying that truth about God is relative. But he was saying that we must meet people where they are as far as their level of experience and trust in God. We should encourage them to glow closer to God and become more like Jesus. But we should never shame them or make them feel like second-class Christians if their faith and revelation about God is less developed in some ways from our own personal experience.

Just as no two people are alike, we all have different experiences and various levels of wisdom and faith. Some lack in some areas while others excel and visa versa. We should encourage people where they are so that God can take them to where He wants them to be.

The real question is what do we really believe about Jesus? Your life will show what you really believe because all people life according to their true beliefs even if they do not want to admit it.
